0 notesActive Child really grasped my attention in early 2011 with the released of their album You Are All I See. With the sound of an 80’s new age/soft rock revival they were sure to hold my attention. Pat Grossi really sets the creativity bar high, almost unreachable with his distinct sound, and if I wasn’t sold already I had no chance of not falling in love with this album after giving “Playing House” a listen, this track featuring the brilliant mind behind HTDW, Tom Krell. This song is like walking on the waters of an 80’s R&B ocean. This album is just golden to me, the last track, “Beth/Rest” is comparable to Bon Iver but sets itself apart with Pat’s distinctive voice.
The overwhelming sense of 80’s fantasy movie nostalgia will leave you with warm fuzzy memories of your fantastical childhood imagination. When your days were spent defending your jungle gym castle from evil warlocks and trolls. Venturing to unknown worlds in the comfort of your backyard and dancing in fields of fairies that disguised themselves as fireflies.
I recommend giving You Are All I See a listen. If you like it then make sure to get a copy of their Dleuxe Version for $7.99 on iTunes, this gonna be an album to add to the collection. Also mke sure you venture to Active Child’s website to see when they are stopping by a city close to you on their spring tour.
Active Child…stamp of approval.
